VW garage set 306

Image
This one was quite easy to build. It is probably one of the easiest ones I built. It has extremely simple design and can be built quickly. In the actual set it has a sign that says VW garage. But I don’t have it so I just put a garage sign. the only HO 1:87 scale lego cars I have are mercedes trucks. I have a mercedes tow truck and a flatbed truck. so I need to add vw beetles to the required parts list.

The cafe

Image
The cafe took me a while to get it perfect. But eventually I got it right. I saw on the box of the town plan set it has a ‘taxi’ sign, but I didn’t have it and I saw on vintageandclassiclego.com they used the cafe sign so I decided I’d make mine a cafe too. This was probably the most complicated building in the whole town plan set. It took me about half an hour to get it right. I have never seen very many pictures of this building online. so it was quite hard to get the plates to connect and let the cars be able to fit in it. also, I need even more transparent 2 x 2 macaroni bricks now. Update: 2x2 macaronis have been added:  I’m very happy with how it ended up.

Tiny house

Image
The tiny house was very simple I built it in about 2 minutes. It looks very nice and I think it’s pretty well designed, just like the other buildings. It didn’t use many special parts so it was pretty convenient. The building is also mirrored on the other side.

Esso filling station

Image
The Esso filling station had layered instructions, so it was easier to make than the others. The garage door still opens when the HO cars go on the flap underneath it. Unfortunately, I do not have any transparent 2 x 2 macaroni bricks, so I cant make the corner windows. I had to just put white 2 x 2 macaronis instead. I added 2 x 2 macaroni bricks to my required parts list. UPDATE:2X2 TRANS CLEAR MACARONIS WERE ADDED TO THE WALL OF THE FILLING STATION.  Now the building is completed! And the gas pumps were added too! Unfortunately the gas pumps were missing the lamps on both sides.

The house

Image
I’m not sure if it’s a house or a business because on the town plan layout image it shows a parking lot in front of it, but it look a lot like a house so I decided to call it “The house”. The building time was only around 5 minutes because it is a very simple build.     The house was a pretty small build in the town plan set. It also didn’t have instructions, but as I said before it was a simple build. I might end up turning this into some kind of store if it doesn’t look good on its plot on the board.

The hotel

Image
This is the hotel. The largest building in the town plan set. It does not have layered instructions, so it was hard to build. There was also no Rear pictures of the building. So I had to design the back myself. I think it ended up pretty good! (this building needs transparent 2 x 2 macaroni bricks on the front.) It took a while to build but I think it was definitely worth it, considering how cool it looks. It’s probably my favorite of all the buildings. The building time was probably only around 20 minutes to 30 minutes.

LEGO town plan

Image
Hello! My name is Oliver. I am starting to build a LEGO 1950s/1960s town. In the 1950s and 60s there were no proper instructions. Just layered instructions, which were hard to use. Some sets didn’t even have layered instructions. They just had inspiration sheets. So I have been building some vintage lego houses from the town plan set.
